![]() ![]() In 2018, Michael Bachtler announced his plans for succession and in 2019 JOOLA was acquired by their North American partner, Sport Squad, Inc. He oversaw major milestones such as becoming the official table sponsor for the 1996 Atlanta, 2000 Sydney and 2004 Athens Summer Games. In 1979, Michael Bachtler, managing director of JOOLA since 1968, took over the company as CEO. The Siebeldingen campus is still being used today as the home of JOOLA’s European Headquarter. In 1973, JOOLA opened its Siebeldingen campus, which features an 1800m² production facility, 1200m² of warehousing space, and 700m² of office space. The company experienced exponential growth and quickly reached production capacity in its new location, despite taking over additional buildings. ![]() In the 1950’s, it was common to combine the names of companies and cities, which is how the JOOLA brand name came to be – a combination of Jooss and Landau.Īfter tremendous success and popularity, JOOLA established itself as an independent company and relocated to Godramstein in 1963. By 1954, table tennis production became an independent department within the group. The sports department of Jooss was involved in the production of the first table tennis tables in 1952. On the whole I recommend this site very highly, not just for the location and amenities, but for the friendly and helpful staff.JOOLA was founded by Karl Frey, the former owner of the department store group, Fr. Berck and Le Touquet), fascinating resorts such as Le Crotoy and St Valery and the gorgeous medieval town of Montreuil, all less than 40 minutes drive away. There are beautiful sandy beaches (especially Quend Plage), bustling seaside towns (e.g. One of the best aspects of the location is that it makes a great base for exploring the region. The only downside to the location being so close to nature comes during the duck hunting season (which started about the same time as our stay) when one has to get used to a 6am chorus of gunfire which then continues on and off throughout the day into the early evening. Finally, there are petanque courts (boules available for loan from reception), a fitness area, a children's playground (suitable for up to 12 years old) and an archery room (the equipment again available for loan from reception). There is also a games area with pool tables, ping pong, pinball and table football. It is not particularly deep but fine for swimming and pool games. The pool is very clean and during our stay (mid-August) was never especially crowded. The facilities are excellent for what is by French standards a fairly small site. A note about the water - although perfectly safe to drink it is treated in a way that makes it unpalatable, at least to our taste. All of the pitches are bordered by hedges for privacy and are well serviced with water and electric hook-ups. Although the majority of visitors to this site seem to bring campervans it is entirely suitable for tents too. The staff are very friendly and helpful and we were made to feel very welcome throughout our stay. This is a lovely campsite in a peaceful and attractive rural location.
